Canadian government has come forth to defend former petroleum minister Dr. Asim Hussain who was accused in high-profile corruption and terror-facilitating cases in Pakistan. Interior Ministry has accepted plea of Dr. Asim to provide consular access of Canadian high commission.
Sources said the Canadian government requested for consular access to Dr. Asim Hussain via its foreign minister following citizenship of the accused. The plea has been approved by the interior ministry.
Inspector General (IG) Prisons Sindh and provincial home department were apprised of the decision while the Canadian high commission will meet Dr. Asim Hussain within next few days, sources said.
