DG ISPR should avoid making statement on economy, says Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: The interior minister on Friday said that Director General ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor should avoid making statements on the country’s economy.

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, in a statement, said that such irresponsible statements could damage the country’s reputation in the world.

He said that the country’s imports were under pressure due to investment in industrial sector, however, today economy was much better than 2013 ,

He said that the PML-N-led government had been executing the history’s largest development budget in the country.

Iqbal said that resources were also being provided for security operations to maintain peace.

The minister said that two percent increase had been recorded in the tax collection.

The interior minister’s remarks had come a couple of days after the military’s media wing DG Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor told a TV that if the country’s economy was not bad it was not doing so well either.
