‘DEPD coordinating with stakeholders to bring change in lives of special persons’

Karachi: Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has said that DEPD is trying its best to coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to bring a positive change in the lives of the differently-abled people and for this purpose, education and vocational training are being provided to them through Educational and Rehabilitation centers of Sindh Government.

This he said as a chief guest here at Scout Auditorium Karachi on Monday in a program on Celebration of International Days , World Mental Health Cerebral Palsy- Spina Bifida, arranged in collaboration with Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sindh and Department of Psychiatry Hamdard University. Vice Chancellor Hamdard University Professor Dr. Shabib ul Hasan also spoke. Secretary DEPD Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar, Shafique ur Rehman Paracha, and other distinguished guests also attended the ceremony.

Naveed Qamar added: ” Sindh government has taken many initiatives for betterment of differently-abled people such as issuance of disability certificates, special CNICs, implementation of five percent job quota, issuance of driving licence to hearing impaired persons, collection of data on differently-abled people and providing them sports facilities to develop confidence among them.”

He said that the cooperation of non governmental organizations was also key as without their cooperation we would not be able to get our objective.

Special Assistant to CM Sindh on DEPD Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said that we wanted to enable special people to live an independent life with dignity and hopefully we would get this lofty dream soon.
