Dengue cases continue to rise in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Dengue virus continues to swell despite fall in mercury as 69 people affected by the virus were under treatment in various hospitals of Rawalpindi.

According to health department, 3200 dengue cases  surfaced across Rawalpindi district since January 01, 2016. At present of total 69 dengue affected people, 44 were under treatment at Holy Family Hospital, 19 at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital and six were under treatment at District Hospital Rawalpindi.

Dr. Tariq Niazi said that the dengue situation has worsened due to lack of interest of the health authorities. He said that immediate and solid steps were needed to overcome the further spread of disease and treatment of the existing patients.
