ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has termed the awarding of death sentence to a Kashmiri youth, Muzaffar Ahmed Rather, by an Indian court as against the internationally accepted norms of justice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Muzaffar Ahmed Rather had been targeted just for being a Kashmiri.
“Indian judiciary had in past also displayed miscarriage of justice in cases of Kashmiris and this was yet another addition to this long list,” he said.
The Mirwaiz also called Muzaffar Ahmed Rather’s parents over phone and expressed solidarity with them.
He said that they should not feel alone in this hour of difficulty but the entire Hurriyet leadership and people of occupied Kashmir were with them.
