RAWALPINDI: Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR), Lieutenant-General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the security forces have traced telephone calls of the terrorists stormed Bacha Khan University, killing at least 20 persons while 11 others were wounded in the barbaric incident took place in Charsadda.
Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa said, ‘We have collected breakthrough information pertaining links of the terrorism attack.’ He added, ‘A dead terrorist’s phone was ringing and receiving a telephone call from Afghanistan’.
DG-ISPR was briefing details of terror attack in Bacha Khan University and rapid operation carried out by armed forces to clear the varsity premises. Bajwa rejected to share complete details of the terrorists from where they belong to, however, he said that the authorities received ‘breakthrough’ during the investigation of the attack. Bajwa said a thorough investigation underway into the incident and its details will be shared soon.
He said that four terrorists attacked the university who were contained after rapid retaliation made by the security forces. He added, ‘Dead bodies of the terrorists were found on stairs and roof of the university who were contained, killed by the armed forces.’
Bajwa said the terrorists were armed and having grenades; possessing two mobile phones. He added that the investigation agencies shared forensic samples and fingers prints with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to collect individual details of the terrorists.
DG-ISPR reiterated that Pakistan is currently in state of war while security forces continued intelligence-based operations in Peshawar and its suburban parts against terrorists and facilitators. He said that several operational teams were in grounds and busy in fighting against terrorism. He added that such incidents to hit soft targets showed defeated mind of the terrorists as Operation Zarb-e-Azb broke backbone of the terrorists. He said that the ongoing fight against terrorism will be intensified to root out the menace across the country.
