Dar wishes newly-appointed US ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar while welcoming the newly appointed US ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale has expressed the hope that the new envoy will play due role in further enhancing the Pak-US relations.

Dar was talking to David Hale who paid a courtesy call on him here on Friday. The US envoy was accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission, Jonathan Pratt and other senior US Embassy officials.

The Minister stated that government of Pakistan wanted to promote private sector participation in all economic sectors and would welcome US investors who wished to take up projects in the country. He stated that having achieved the objective of macroeconomic stabilization, the government was now fully focused on economic growth which would also require contribution of foreign investors. Such investors would be facilitated in every possible way, he said.

The Finance Minister wished Ambassador Hale all the best for his new assignment and assured him of the cooperation of Ministry of Finance in furthering the objective of stronger bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Hale recalled the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to USA and stated that it had been very useful in further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations.

The US Ambassador appreciated the economic achievements of the present government and stated that the positive progress was being acknowledged by international institutions including the IMF. He said that the US administration is encouraging US companies to take part in the business and investment opportunities in Pakistan. He said that the US companies had shown keen interest in Pakistan during the recently held Clean Energy Business Opportunities Conference in Washington.
