Dar appreciate FBR, continue on roll back of concessionary regime

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday expressed appreciation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR’s) continued exercise for roll back of concessionary regime in the country.

He said FBR must ensure steps for effective implementation of the third and final phase of withdrawal of SROs, said a statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.

Finance Minister said this, while chairing a high level meeting to further review FBR’s budget related proposals here.

He said the government had the desire to ensure that all strata of tax payers were extended equal treatment and that there were no exceptions in this regard.

The meeting held had detailed discussion on proposals related to agriculture, poultry and textile sectors.

Chairman FBR gave an overview of the measures proposed for inclusion in the budget 2016-17 relating to these sectors.

The minister on the occasion said that the government attaches due importance to well being of the farmers community and the upcoming budget must reflect measures aimed at facilitating growth of agriculture sector as a whole.

The Minister on this occasion gave instructions that the exercise be completed as early as possible and proposals for the budget 2016-17 must reflect the government’s inherent desire to promote tax culture in the country while simultaneously facilitating and encouraging tax payers.

Senior officials of Ministry of Finance and FBR attended the meeting.
