KARACHI: A firing incident in the city’s Lines Area claimed the life of a woman, as dacoits allegedly shot her dead over resisting here on Sunday.
According to rescue sources, the woman was critically wounded due to the shooting incident. While she was being shifted to the hospital, the injured woman succumbed to her wounds and died. The armed shooters who had opened gunfire on the woman had fled the scene after killing her.
Death of the woman sparked protest in the area as many locals blocked the connecting road blaming police for not registering complaint against the culprits. However, the protest ended up after registration of First Investigation Report (FIR) in local police station.
Residents of the locality disclosed that the woman had been shot dead by unidentified armed persons, who immediately fled after killing her. Residents of the locality protested after the shooting incident and blocked Preedy Street for traffic.
The victim of the shooting incident has been identified as Aqeela. According to SP Jamshed Town Tahir Noorani, the investigation into the incident is being carried out and a case had also been registered.
According to a senior police officer, the woman’s death was not linked to any kidnapping. However, the police did confirm that the woman frequently argued with her husband.
