Cyclone Tauktae: Karachi, other coastal areas to receive rainfall, gusty winds from May 17-20

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the Cyclone Tauktae, forecasting rainfall and gusty winds in several parts of Sindh including Karachi from May 17 to 20.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the depression over Southeast Arabian had intensified into a Cyclonic storm “Tauktae”. It added that the storm is currently present at a distance of about 1,460km south-southeast of Karachi.

The PMD added that the maximum speed of the winds sustained around the Tauktae were recorded at 70-90km per hour. It further said that the wind speed is expected to reach 100kh per hour.

The storm can move in the direction of north-northwest direction expecetd to reach the India’s Gujarat city by the morning of May 18.
