Curfew, restrictions in Srinagar to foil Eidgah march

SRINAGAR: The puppet authorities in occupied Kashmir have imposed curfew in in Srinagar to prevent a march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Eidgah in the city, today (Saturday).

Call for the march has been given by the Chairman of his own Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent Kashmiri liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal.

The authorities deployed a large number of Indian troops and police personnel in full riot gear in the city to prevent people from conducting the march.

The authorities have also placed under house arrest the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Zafar Akbar Butt, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Muhammad Ashraf Laiya, Altaf Ahmed Shah and Ayaz Akbar to stop them from leading the march.
