Curfew, curbs continue in Kashmir, Chenab Valley

SRINAGAR: Indian authorities continued to impose curfew and other restrictions throughout the Indian Occupied Kashmir including Kishtwar district on the 79th straight day, today.

According to KMS, a large number of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in strength in all districts of the Kashmir Valley including Srinagar to prevent protest rallies and march called by the joint Hurriyet leadership.

Due to the curbs imposed by authorities and shutdown life in both Kashmir and Chenab Valley area of Jammu region remained paralyzed for 79th consecutive day today. The Hurriyet leadership has extended the shutdown till coming Monday.

Meanwhile, the authorities re-imposed curfew in Kishtwar town to quell protests against the arrest of people including two Imams in the town. At least eighteen persons were named in cases of sedition for participating in anti-India and pro-freedom rallies and protests on Eid-ul-Azha.
