RIYADH: In a rejoinder to British media report, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday categorically denied any link of the kingdom with the hacking of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ phone.

According to a British newspaper, the phone of Amazon.com Inc founder, who also owns The Washington Post, was hacked when it received a Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s text message via Whatsapp in 2018.

The paper quoting sources said that the Salman’s text message contained malicious file that removed data from the Bezos’s phone within hours.

Sources claimed that the ties between the Saudi government and the Amazon chief became strained after the Washington Post’s coverage of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.
