ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that new avenues of business and employment opportunities will be generated with the completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and energy projects. The President stated that the government is utilizing all available resources to provide conducive business environment and promote investment.
The President said this while talking to a delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) who headed by its President Haji Muhammad Afzal Khan called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday. The officials of Ministry of Commerce and Federal Board of Revenue were also present in the meeting.
The President stated that the country is moving in the right direction and due to right economic policies the International Financial Institutions have declared that the country’s economy is reviving.
The President said that the Government is undertaking various measures to resolve the issues of business community adding that the Ministry of Commerce has announced a three years Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) to encourage trade and investment in the country.
He added that STPF provides for 50% support for the purchase of imported new plant and machinery for specified underdeveloped regions especially to KPK, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan.
The President noted that Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organizing trade exhibitions for increasing exports and conducting visits of trade delegations to identify new markets and attract investment.
President Mamnoon Hussain stated that business and trade community of the country should pay their due share of tax to promote tax culture so that with the revenue generated the Government could provide maximum facilities to the general public.
President SCCI apprised President Mamnoon Hussain about their issues. Praising the economic policies of the Government, he said that SCCI is in contact with the Government to further improve the country’s economy. On the occasion, President SCCI also presented a traditional turban to President Mamnoon Hussain.INP
