The ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has finally appeared in an accountability court on Tuesday in three graft references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The proceeding lasted for only a few minutes after the Judge Judge Muhammad Bashir allowed Nawaz Sharif to leave.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) head informed the judge that his wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, is not well and he wanted to see her. He added his children are in London, looking after their ailing mother.
The Accountability court handed over copies of the references along with relevant documents to the Sharif’s counsel and said it would indict him on next hearing on Oct 2.
The judge also issued bailable warrants for the arrest of Sharif’s children after their failure to show up in the court.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif on Monday arrived in Lahore from London. He held meetings with top leadership of the party including Chaudhary Nisar before appearing in the court today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ex-PM will hold a meeting with PML-N leaders today at Punjab house and will address the presser today.
