ISLAMABAD: Setting aside their political differences, the political leadership of the country Monday stood united to support the government in its efforts on Kashmir issue besides giving Indian government a message that whole of Pakistan was united when it comes to national security and integrity.
Talking to the newsmen outside the Prime Minister’s Office after attending the parliamentary parties’ meeting convened by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss the situation in Kashmir and on Line of Control, the political leaders including from Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Jamat-e-Islami and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan lauded the prime minister’s speech at the United Nations besides calling for addressing the shortcomings in country’s foreign policy.
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto said the whole political leadership stood united for the cause of Kashmir freedom to bring an end to the plight of Kashmiri people who had been striving for long for their right to self- determination.
He said the parliamentary parties’ meeting had given a clear message to the world that Pakistan could never make a compromise when it comes the issue of Kashmir.
He said India lad lost a moral ground on Kashmir issue and such a unity forged by the political leadership was a turning point in country’s history.
PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the joint statement of the meeting had mentioned the Indian atrocities in IOK and its intervention in Balochistan for disruption of peace.
He said the parliamentary parties unanimously viewed that any breach of Indus Water Treaty by Indian government would be considered as an `act of aggression.’
He said the meeting gave a clear message to the world that the whole nation would back the country’s security forces in case of any aggression to national security.
Amir of Jamat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq said the parliamentary parties’ meeting gave a sound message in support of Kashmiri people. It was now up to the government to provide a national action plan and roadmap to highlight the Kashmir issue effectively, he added.
Dr Farooq Sattar of MQM said India would have to face a befitting response if it ever tried to test Pakistan’s capability.
He said after the National Assembly as well as provincial assemblies had passed resolutions against Indian atrocities in IOK, it was need of the hour the government fine-tuned its diplomatic efforts.—APP
