KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday extended bail-before arrest of former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon till December 1 in corruption references.
An SHC bench heard bail application of Sharjeel Inam Memon and other accused in the corruption references.
Memon’s counsel Dr Faiz Shah took the plea that his client was seriously ill and he could not come back to the country immediately.
He pleaded the court to extend his bail before arrest in the corruption case. The court extended his bail before arrest by December 1, 2016.
It is to be mentioned here that NAB had filed a corruption reference against Memon, other information department officials and advertising companies’ representatives for illegalities in the process of awarding contracts worth over Rs5 billion for official Sindh government awareness campaigns for the electronic media.
Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani and Mansoor Ahmed and others are co-accused in the Rs5 billion corruption case.
NAB had also filed another reference Memon for illegal allotment and adjustment of land in 43 dehs of Malir in favour of Bahria Town.
