ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq on Wednesday termed corruption as the biggest barrier in national development and prosperity. He said elimination of corruption would result end of hefty loans and betterment of internal and external situation of the country.

The JI Ameer clarified that his political party was fighting the case against corruption in interest of nation but neither to fight from any political party nor a political showdown. He said that Panama leaks’ matter was an unusual genre of case.

He detailed that the federal government barricaded lawmaking over Panama leaks as it wanted to impose self-styled Term of References (ToRs). He expressed his views while interacting with media persons outside the Supreme Court (SC) building after hearing of Panama Papers’ case.

Sirajul Haq said that looters and dacoits will have to answer before the nation. He said the JI counsel completed his arguments in the apex court while hearing of second case is due which was filed by JI. He requested the apex court to retain the same bench for hearing of second case.

The Senator demanded to hold accountability of Prime Minister and Sharif family first, and later scrutiny of all other persons who were named in leaked Panama Papers. He said the apex court was questioning the premier regarding companies linked to his family members. He added the situation will turn suspicious if Sharifs failed to produce appropriate answer before the SC.
