ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the Chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday strongly denounced the puppet administration for sealing the historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar for 17th week in a row and disallowing people to offer Friday prayers there.

According to KMS, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under continued house arrest, in a statement in Srinagar said that the ruling class had reached the extreme point in their indifference to the people, their culture and religion.

“Locking Jamia Masjid and preventing people from offering Friday prayers doesn’t seem to register on their hearts and minds any more. They have become stone-hearted, irredeemable. The total apathy of the rulers towards the ruled reflects a very grim and disturbing situation that people are face to face with,” he stated.

The Mirwaiz appealed to the Muslim countries, the United Nations, and international human rights bodies to help stop violations of religious rights of the people of occupied Kashmir.

He also urged them to play their role in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar termed the ban on Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid from last four months as a direct interference in religious affairs of the Kashmiri Muslims.

“Disallowing Friday prayers from last four months at Jamia Masjid, blanket ban on all peaceful political activities, arresting thousands of youth, resistance activists and students, continuing wave of destruction and loot by armed forces and police throughout Kashmir, nocturnal raids, beating and humiliating common people and recent attack on inmates in Baramulla Jail are glaring examples of duplicitous politics of pro-India politicians and parties,” he said.

Yasin Malik said that shameless politicians especially from the ruling regime were on daily basis delivering sermons of democracy, ethics, education and peace on TV shows and press briefings but showed no guts to compete their political opponents politically.
