Commander of Iran’s Quds Force Gen Qassem Soleimani killed in US strike

BAGHDAD: Maj Gen Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed in the US strike here on Friday. In the same strike, Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units’s (PMU) second-in-command Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was also killed by the American forces.

Both the commanders were killed in the US helicopter attack in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, an IRGC statement confirmed on Friday morning.

The US helicopters targeted both the commanders while they were travelling in a car on the Baghdad International Airport road, it added.
