ISLAMABAD: The demand for coffee has increased in different markets of federal capital, as fall breezes turned bitter.
According to a private News Channel, a considerable rush is being witnessed at coffee shops in different localities of capital city.
Asim Kayani a local coffee shop owner said, “Our hot coffee sales goes up in the winter by 50 percent.”
“I drink about three to five cups of coffee (a day) in the wintertime, but not too much in the summer,” said a customer Ali Rao.
“I don’t drink coffee that often, but I drink more coffee this time of year because it’s cold,” Musa Waqas another customer said.
A nutrition Dr Zafar Iqbal, said coffee has its benefits if consumed in moderation, but there are also hazards with over-indulgence.
The average coffee drinker, who consumes three cups a day, may be less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, a chronic disease characterized by high levels of sugar in the blood, he said.
Coffee drinkers also are less at risk for Parkinson’s disease, dementia and certain types of cancer, such as liver cancer, he urged.
