WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who is currently on a five-day official visit to Washington, spent his day on Tuesday at the Pentagon where he met top US military officials.
Other than US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter, he held meetings with Deputy Secretary Defence Robert O. Work, Chief of Joint Committee Staff General Dunford, Chief of Army Staff General Milley, and Commander CentCom General Austin.
Defence cooperation, strengthening of military-to-military relations between Pakistan and the US, regional security, and the need for enhanced coordination and increased training exchanges were discussed during Gen Sharif’s meetings with the US military officials.
Later, US CJCS General Dunford hosted a special banquet in honor of the Pakistan Army Chief at Fort Myer. Among others, the banquet was also attended by General Austin and General Milley.
Earlier, the army chief also visited the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters in Langley and met with Director CIA John Brennan.
