RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif paid visit to the tribal agency South Waziristan and inaugurated series of development projects as essential part of restoration process commenced for the displaced persons, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Major-General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Director General (DG) ISPR, in his Twitter message said that the COAS inaugurated various developments projects during his visit to the South Waziristan.
He inaugurated 62 kilometre long Tank-Dera Ghazi Khan road as it would be the part of overall 750 kilometre long central trade corridor while the road will substantially reduce travel timings while linking the Afghanistan. COAS also inaugurated 54 kilometre long transmission line during the visit.
COAS inaugurated State of Art Cadet College Wana that would educate 500 children and it will go lengths in propelling local youth to professional colleges.
General Raheel Sharif assured that rehabilitation plan for the temporarily displaced persons will be fully executed. He vowed that all TDPs to return to their homes as per planned and the tribal region will be transformed into much development region of the country.
He said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb is in final stage in fewer left packets. He added that Pakistan military troops successfully evicted terrorists with support of the nation. He appreciated support and sacrifices of the tribal brothers in the war against terrorism. He added that they have paid price for operational successes and terrorists will never be allowed to return in the territories again. He clarified that Pakistan Army will not go back till job fully done. COAS urged tribal people to continue supporting security forces and rehabilitation process to achieve cent per cent objective of enduring peace and prosperity in the areas.
