KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Saturday handed over travel documents of Larkana-student who was tortured by his teacher to the US Consul General.
A delegation led by the US Consul General Grace Shelton met Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday. During the meeting CM Murad urged the Consul General for early visa issuance for 14-year-old Muhammad Ahmed who was left paralyzed after alleged assault by a teacher.
Education minister, Chief Secretary and education secretary were also present in the meeting.
Ahmed will be flown to the United States for treatment, at the expense to be borne by the Sindh government.
Ahmed’s father Ghullam Ahmed, a teacher said that the assault occurred four months ago and a few teachers from his school are responsible for bringing his son to this state. “On August 6 just after school reopened after summer vacations I received a phone call from station master GM Bhatti at the Larkana Cadet College saying that my son had suffered fits.”
He claimed that when he reached the school his son was covered with injuries on his face, chest, head, back and lower limbs.
After failing to get satisfactory treatment from doctors in Larkana he came to Karachi where health experts pointed out that the condition had been caused due to assault.
His medical treatment is possible in the United States doctors said, but his parents claimed they don’t have the resources to take him there. At this Sindh Chief Minister intervened and offered to bear the expenses.
