LAHORE:  Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the remarks of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court are a slap on the face of the so-called champions of democracy ruling the country.

Addressing the heads of JI’s sister organizations at Mansoora on Friday, he said that the Chief Justice’s remarks were based of hard facts and had endorsed JI’s stance that elections in the country were a fraud as the feudal lords and capitalists manipulated the elections due to their wealth and the masses did not exercise their vote with free will.

Those present included the representatives of the Pakistan Engineers Forum, National Labour Foundation, JI Youth, Tehrik e Mehnat, Islamic Lawyers Movement, Islami Jamiat e Talaba, Jamiat Talaba Arabia, and the Ittehadul Ulema Pakistan.

Sirajul Haq said that corrupt people invested billions in elections and on being elected, minted trillions through loot and plunder. As such, the worst form of dictatorship besides monarchy had been continuing in the country in the name of democracy for the last seventy years.

The rulers were trampling upon democratic values as all state institutions were facing destruction due to the self centered policies of the people in power.

He said the Election Commission had failed in implementing its rules and regulations and in these circumstances, the masses would have to review their attitude, and  and if they wanted to get rid of the tyrants and exploiters, they should support the JI.

The JI chief said there were about a dozen institutions to control corruption which had huge budgets. However, he said that corruption had increased with the passage of the time because of the plunder of the rulers.

Criticizing NAB, he said NABs provision for Plea Bargain was itself a major cause of corruption. He appealed to the Chief Justice to take suo moto notice of the working of the NAB and other anti-corruption agencies.

While addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque, Sirajul Haq said that the Pakistanis had deep love for Islam as had been confirmed by some recent surveys. He said that  ninety per cent of the people wanted the enforcement of the Shariah.  Besides, he said, it had also been proved that the Pakistanis were at the top in offering charity and the number of the Huffaze Quran was also the highest in the country.

He said that despite Western media’s campaign against Hijab, the Pakistani womenfolk loved Hijab and the Islamic culture. However, he said, the misdeeds and the secular views of the rulers were negating the impact of the virtuous outlook of the masses.

Sirajul Haq said the JI was the only political party in the country that was not dominated by feudal lords or capitalists. The JI wanted to take along honest and patriotic people in every section of the society for putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity.
