City patrol police to help curb street crimes: CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday said lunching of City Patrol Police (CPP) in provincial metropolis would help curb street crimes besides ensuring protection to lives and properties of citizens.

Addressing the officials of CPP here at a ceremony, he said that protection of lives and properties is core responsibility of the police and in order to make the provincial capital crime free the initiative has been taken to achieve the objectives.

He said the CPP is one of the most equipped and modern police force of the city capable of coping with any emergency within no minutes, adding that launching of CPP is a step to give a sense of security to the citizens.

He said the officials of CPP have specially trained to deal with people in very respectable and polite manner and all their dealing with the masses would be recorded online so that they could be made accountable at any stage.

The CM further said that the system of self accountability has already launched in police system of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) which has improved the image of KP police.

He hoped that the CPP would further be extended to other parts of the province as well and advised Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani to take practical step in this regard.

Pervez Khattah said that during the last three years the KP police have emerged as best police force in the country and despite several challenges including terrorism, militancy and other organized crimes, it effectively maintained peace and order in the area and brought a considerable decrease in the crime rate.

He said the confidence of the people has restored in the police force and they feel themselves more secure as compare to past when kidnapping for ransom, car lifting, extortion, robberies and street crimes had become part of routine life.

The CM especially acknowledged and appreciated the services of IGP Nasir Khan Durrani and said that under his command the KP police have earned a good name.
