China to lay Matiari-Lahore high-voltage direct current transmission line

BEIJING: China will lay the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line between Matiari and Lahore at a cost of $1.5 billion.

An agreement was signed in this connection here between the SGCC’s subsidiary China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Company and Pakistan. Pakistani side was represented by secretary water and power.

The Chinese company will lay the Pakistan’s first 878-kilometer-long high-voltage direct current.
