Pakistan super star batsman Zaheer Abbas on this day in 1982 became the first and only Pakistan batsman to score 100 centuries in first class matches as well as the only Asian batsman to reach this milestone.
Zaheer Abbas is known as the Asian Bradman and for a very good reason as this player scored tons of international runs for Pakistan and played a vital role in Pakistan’s victories during the 1970s and 80s.
He achieved this feat against India on the second day of the test match at Lahore. He went on to score a mammoth 215 runs off just 254 balls and totally decimated the Indian bowling attack as Pakistan piled up 485 runs in the first innings.
His innings included 23 fours and a massive six. The strike rate at which he batted was extremely high as compared to the general trend during those days.
