ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Friday that five hundred tele-centres will be established in unserved and remote areas during the next three years.
Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman Khan told the House during question hour that the people will be able to avail the services of NADRA, SIM verification and Virtual University through these telecentres. She said that 3G services will also be made available in far-flung areas in shortest possible time.
She said new projects of Rs 20.33 billion have been undertaken during the last three years in the broad-band and other IT related categories.
Anusha Rehman said draft of provincial electronic crime bill has been formulated to check forgery and electronic frauds. She said a strategy framework for e-commerce gateway has been finalized due to which Pakistan’s ranking on financial action task force list has been raised from grey to white. This will enable entry of credible international players like PayPal and Google Wallet.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Usman Ibrahim told the House that there are plans to establish a cancer hospital in the premises of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Islamabad. Five hundred million rupees have been allocated in the budget for the project.
The Ministry of Climate Change told the House in a written reply that a plan has been prepared to strengthen early warning system against disasters.
