MANAMA: The Bahrain World Trade Center is the first ever building that is generating 15 percent electricity of its usage through wind turbines, that are part of its structure.
The huge trade center has three large wind turbines suspended between the two towers. These three turbines can generate such amount of electricity, which is sufficient for 300 houses.
These towers are aerodynamically tapered to funnel wind and draw air into the turbines. This airfoil tapering allows the wind to enter the turbines at a perpendicular angle and increases air speed as much as 30 percent in each of the 95 feet wide turbine rotors.
