Budget 2015-16: Govt to allocate 250bn rupees for infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government has decided to assign over 250 billion rupees for infrastructure in budget 2015-16. More than 600 billion rupees would be assigned for energy, transport and infrastructure in the upcoming budget.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said in a news conference that a committee of parliamentarians comprising on Captain Safdar and Hamza Shahbaz Sharif had been constituted to select high priority projects proposed by the parliamentarians.

He said that Pak-China Economic Corridor and energy sector would be given top priority in the budget 2015-16. 250 billion rupees will be allocated to achieve progress on these sectors. “Finance ministry has agreed to allocate 580 billion rupees for the project but efforts would be made to increase the amount above 600 billion rupees.
