JEDDAH: The UK consul-general in Jeddah has accepted Islam, changing his name to Seif Usher.
Earlier this week, the British diplomat broke the news on Twitter.
Seif Usher shared his picture standing in the courtyard of Masjid Al Nabawi (PBUH) on Twitter.
The British consul general said: “I am very happy to return to my favorite city – Madina – and perform the Fajr prayer at the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque.”
He added that he’s looking forward to the return of Muslims from the UK to Madina after the Covid.
Usher said that there were more than 100,000 pilgrims each year before the pandemic. He added that he was sure that number of pilgrims will increase as the brilliant development of infrastructure and facilities continues in the Saudi Arabia.
Usher is the second British diplomat to accept Islam. Earlier, Simon Collis, British envoy to Saudi Arabia had embraced Islam in 2016.
