KABUL: At least 12 people including children and three foreigners working for US military coalition were killed while around 67 sustained wounds in suicide explosion in vehicle in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul here on Saturday.
Foreign media quoted security sources said that the explosion took place in the centre of Kabul, however, no group has claimed responsibility of the attack so far.
The incident took place near Shinozada Hospital when convoys were moving towards downtown Kabul with foreign and Afghan workers including foreign military personnel.
Col. Brian Tribus, a spokesman for the American-led military coalition here, said three civilian contractors working for the coalition were killed; one died immediately and two died later from their wounds. He did not disclose their nationalities or jobs.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, Mohammad Ismail Kawosi, said the death toll was 12 with 67 wounded. But the Kabul police chief, Abdul Rahman Rahmani, said in an interview at the scene that the casualty toll, which included women and children, was likely to rise because of all the injuries from flying glass.
