WAHINGTON: A veteran investigative journalist Seymour M. Hersh has said that almost everything we thought we knew about Osama Bin Laden death was a lie. He said that United States President Obama lied about Bin Laden raid.
He said in a story published in the London Review of Books on Sunday that ” Operation Neptune Spear” was a work of fiction. He said that Obama deceived Americans with his narrative of the 2011 assassination of Osama Bin Laden. He said that a former senior Pakistani intelligence officer tipped the US off about bin Laden’s whereabouts in exchange for 25 million dollars.
Hersh alleged that the Pakistani government had an active role in approving and implementing the raid on bin Laden’s compound in Abbotabad.
He said that it was decided that both countries would not disclose anything if something went wrong. Hersh said that Pakistani military kept Bin Laden under house arrest when he was killed. He said that Bin Ladin was unarmed when he was shoot dead.
Hersh said that Bin Laden was probably not buried at sea. His bullet-ridden body parts may have been sent into the Hindu Kush mountains by helicopters while back to Afghanistan after the operation.
