All the local and foreign mobile phone manufacturers in Pakistan have reduced the prices of more than 20 mobile phone models from Rs400 to Rs10,000.
The Mobile Phone Association and market sources have confirmed that all the companies have significantly reduced the prices of not only smartphones, but also push-button phones, including feature phones, from Rs100 to Rs500.
The sales targets of the mobile phone companies are not being met due to which the prices are being reduced significantly while mobile phones are being manufactured in Pakistan in large numbers.
The representatives of the mobile phone companies have confirmed that efforts are being made to stabilize the mobile phone industry in the Pakistani market by significantly reducing the rates.
Earlier, the office bearers of Pakistan Mobile Phone Manufacturing Association (PMPMA) had claimed that even iPhone was ready to come to Pakistan but was reluctant due to inconsistent government policies.
Organised by the Engineering Development Board (EDB) the speakers said lack of policy directives and the tug of war between various government departments and ministries were the main hurdle to growth in the mobile manufacturing in Pakistan.
