WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has announced that drone strikes will continue in Afghanistan.
“There is a risk of another terrorist attack in Afghanistan. Terrorists could carry out another attack in the next 24 to 36 hours,” he said in a statement, according to a foreign news agency.
According to the report, he said that the situation in Afghanistan remains dangerous.
Just a few days ago, US President Joe Biden was warned by the national security team about another attack in Kabul.
In a briefing to the US President, the US commanders made it clear that they have effective resources for attacks against ISIS in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, in a reaction to the US drone strike in Nangarhar, Suhail Shaheen , the spokesman for Taliban’s political office has said that after August 31 Washington would have no authority to launch an attack in the country.
Earlier, in eastern Afghanistan the US had carried out drone strike against a Daesh attack “planner”.
Suhail Shaheen while responding to a query if the US had launched the drone strike with the Taliban’s approval, said that the group would stop any such attack in the country after August 31.
