Three killed in Quetta blast

QUETTA: The Marri tribe has blocked the Red Zone here in Quetta on Wednesday through a series of protests on roads that lead to the zone.

They are protesting against what they claimed was the brutal murder of three family members of Khan Muhammad Marri in Barkhan.

The protesters also demanded of the government to arrest provincial minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran for his alleged role in the killings.

The charged protesters, including parents and relatives of the deceased family, placed the bodies on Zarghoon Road and staged a sit-in. They alongside supporters also proceeded to block other access roads to the Red Zone in the provincial capital Quetta.

The protesters accused Balochistan Minister Khetran of being involved in the killings and of imprisoning a further five members of their family at private jail. They also rejected the five-member joint investigation team (JIT) constituted by the Balochistan government to investigate the matter. They also demanded that a team should be formed under the supervision of the Balochistan High Court.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the Balochistan chief minister had constituted a five-member joint investigation team (JIT) with the view to launch inquiry into bodies found from a well in Barkhan.

According to a notification issued by the Balochistan home ministry, the JIT would be led by the DIG of the Loralai Police Range. The team includes Investigation SSP for Quetta, representatives of the Balochistan Police Special Branch, the deputy commissioner for Barkhan and any other member whom the team feels is integral to the investigation.
