CHARSADDA: The tragedy-struck Bacha Khan University Charsadda was reopened on Monday after twenty-six days, following heavy security arrangements.

The decision to reopen the university was taken at a meeting on Friday by the University Vice Chancellor Fazal Raheem. The meeting was attended by security officials and university staff.

Heavy contingent of security personnel have been deployed around university premises. Watch towers were also constructed every 100 meters apart and extra CCTV cameras were installed in order to improve vigilance and ensure foolproof security.

On January 20, four armed men had stormed into the university and opened indiscriminate firing, killing 21 innocent students and staff members. On the tragic day, a ‘mushaira’ had been scheduled to take place in the university on the occasion of Bacha Khan’s birthday.

Hundreds of students and administration staff were inside the university when the attack had taken place.

Pakistan Army had been called in to quell the attack. All the four terrorists were killed in the operation.
