CANBERRA: In view of coronavirus’s worst situation in India, the Australian government banned the repatriation of its citizens in India, making it a crime.

According to foreign media, the Australian government has decided that its citizens in India will be punished in case of repatriation.

According to media reports, Australians in India could face up to five years in prison and heavy fines if they return home, after the Australian government imposed a temporary travel ban between New Delhi and Canberra.

The Australian Ministry of Health said that the decision was made based on the proportion of people in quarantine who have been infected with coronavirus in India.
