Attackers storm Indian police station, at least nine dead in Gurdaspur

DINANAGAR, Gurdaspur: As many as nine people were dead including Superintendent Police Baljit Singh when Indian security forces were battling an armed attack on a police station near the Pakistan border.

A police spokesman at the scene in Gurdaspur located in the northern state of Punjab said he had witnessed one security officer being shot, and at least six people had been injured in the ongoing siege.

He said that four were civilians among the dead besides the one police home guard (officer) who was killed earlier.

Media reports said three to four attackers wearing army uniforms had opened fire on a bus and hijacked a vehicle before storming the police station.

However once again Indian Interior minister claimed that the attackers came from Pakistan and also ordered to tighten the security on Pakistan-India border.
