ATC issues arrest warrants for accused of attack on PTV, parliament

ISLAMABAD: Anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday issued arrest warrants for 17 accused of attack on parliament and state-run television PTV.

ATC judge Syed Kausar Abbas was hearing Parliament and Pakistan Television (PTV) attacks case. As many as 86 workers belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) appeared before the court.

During the hearing the court expressed resentment over the remaining workers’ absence and issued arrest warrants against 17 accused. The 86 workers were released on bail earlier. The court adjourned the hearing until December 01.

At least 103 persons have been nominated in the case. The accused were arrested damaging state property during PTI-led sit-in protest in federal capital’s D-Chowk. The case cites anti-terrorism sections along with others.

The protest that lasted for more than 100 days had gripped the country with its flamboyance and sound systems. The protesters danced till late in the nights on DJ Butt s beats who later filed a lawsuit against the party for not paying his due bills.
