KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court on Friday handed over nine Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers to Rangers for 90 days.
The MQM workers were amongst the sixteen people arrested by Rangers within the limits of Rizvia police station on the suspicion of collecting extortion money from people in the name of Zakat and Fitra.
The accused persons include sector in-charge Zubair Ashraf, joint sector in-charge Shakir Raza, Muhammad Hamid, Imtiaz Ahmed, Hassan Abbas Zaidi, Muhammad Ismail, Nisar Alam and Adnan Ashraf.
On the day of their arrest, Rangers maintained that people of Karachi are wary of such elements of who collect extortion in the name of Zakat and Fitra advising the citizens to call Rangers Helpline 1101 in case of such an incident.
