ISLAMABAD: An Anti-terrorism court has accepted interim bail plea of Member National Assembly Rohail Asghar in hit-and-run case on Thursday.
The plea was filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani. Rohail’s advocate said the section under which his client was held is bailable and thus his interim bail should be accepted.
Arguing against the stance, plaintiff’s counsel said that only impoverished people and those living below the poverty line are crushed to death under elites’ cars in this country.
He said that the police did not include serious sections because the accused is an affluent man associated with the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
Asghar allegedly hit a security guard with his vehicle at a footpath claiming his life last year. A case was lodged at Kohsar Police Station against the lawmaker by widow of the man, Shaheen Bibi.
