KARACHI: An Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) on Saturday accepted bail before arrest of former home minister and estranged leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Zulfiqar Mirza.
The ATC has accepted the bail before arrest of Mirza in three different cases registered against him in terrorism charges. The court accepted the bail in guarantee of one lakh rupees in the each case.
Mirza himself appeared before the court to extend his bail which was ending on Saturday (today).
Badin Police recently registered the cases against Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza for forcefully closing the city and an attack on a police station.The charges against him also included clause 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Earlier in the day, talking to journalists in Karachi, Mirza said that he expected justice from the court and would accept the decision if not granted bail.
Mirza said that it was his legal right to go to the court for justice.
“We have to bring back Bilawal Bhutto in Sindh to fulfill the wish of Benazir Bhutto of providing rights to the people,” Mirza added.
A large number of his supporters gathered outside the court. Police took strict security measures in the vicinity of court over security concerns.
