RAHIM YAR KHAN: At least 73 passengers were burnt to death and scores of others injured when a gas cylinder exploded on Tezgam train near Liaquatpur city on Thursday morning.
Police and rescue sources said that the fire erupted when passengers were preparing breakfast on the train. The fire engulfed three economy class bogies, burning to death at least 65 and injuring dozens.
Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid said that passengers, who were preparing breakfast, belonged to a Tableeghi Jamaat.
The injured and the bodies were shifted to DHQ Liaquatpur and Bahawalur.
The train bound for Rawalpindi was coming from Karachi.
