ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to deploy Pakistan Army to perform duties during NA-153 (Multan -VI) and NA-101 (Gujranwala-VII) by-elections scheduled to be held on March 17 and March 22 receptively.
ECP has written a letter to the Secretary Ministry of Defense in this regard, said spokesman of the commission.
He said that the decision has been taken due to the sensitivity of the situation and on the request of political parties, Provincial Election Commissioner and District returning Officer.
In letter, ECP asked to the Secretary Defense to issue necessary directions for deployment of sufficient strength of Pakistan Army for bye-elections inside and outside of the Polling stations in above referred constituencies.
