ISLAMABAD: The government has moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday seeking a review of the top courts’ judgment in the Army Chief Gen Bajwa’s extension case.

The federal government, in the plea, prayed the top court to announce a larger bench to hear the extension case.

The petition also prayed the court to hold the proceedings in-camera.

Earlier on Dec 16, the Supreme Court had ruled in the detailed verdict of the Army Chief Gen Bajwa’s extension case that the prime minister has no constitutional right to give the COAS extension in his tenure.

The detailed judgement comprising 39 pages was penned by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.

The three-year extension given to the COAS has no legal status, the verdict said.
