Army Chief expresses satisfaction on Karachi operation

KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif has expressed satisfaction on Karachi operation, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS on Wednesday visited corps headquarter Karachi.

Corps Commander Karachi, Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar and Director General Sindh Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar briefed the COAS on Karachi operation and overall security situation of the mega city.

At the occasion, the Army Chief said that Karachi operation will continue till its logical ends. He further said that number of target killings and extortion incidents  have decreased after the operation.

The COAS said that Karachi operation has been carried out indiscriminately and on wide level adding that the operation will continued till the end of mafias from the metropolis.

Gen Raheel also congratulated Rangers on successful and violence-free holding up of by-election in NA-246 constituency.

The Army chief said that for progress of economy of the country peace in Karachi is priority.

He said that recent target killings in the city were happening on particular pattern and he directed intelligence agencies and Rangers to unearthed the planners of the recent events.
