Terrorists storm Police Training College in Quetta, take hostages in hostel

QUETTA: Armed persons opened heavy firing after storming Police Training College situated at Sariab Road of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan.

The affected area echoed by sound of firing with heavy machinery as unidentified armed persons stormed into Police Training College located at Sariab Road, 20 kilometer away from Quetta city on Quetta-Sibi Highway.

20 recruits, two FC personnel wounded by terrorists firing when they tried to run away the PTC building, initial reports said.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Quetta Abdur Razzak Cheema told media that five terrorists stormed into the PTC Quetta building. He added terrorists were exchanging fire with security officials from hostel building.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif condemned the terror attack, saying, “Fight against terrorism will continue. We will not lose the fight. We will not be deterred by the terror forces.”

According to reports, 700 students are getting training in the Police Training College having while 200 students are residing in the hostel building.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri ordered sending additional contingents of security officials to clear the PTC Quetta. Inspector General (IG) Balochistan Police Ehsan Mehboob also reached the attacked site.

Provincial home ministry established a control room to monitoring the clearance operation being conducted in PTC Quetta.

A private news channel reported that the terrorists take many hostages in New Hostel inside the college building.

Security forces cordoned off whole area while exchange of heavy fire continued between security personnel and terrorists. More contingents of police and Frontier Corps (FC) called upon the area to bring situation under control.

Emergency has been imposed in all hospitals, said spokesperson Balochistan government Anwarul Haq Kakar.
