Anti-polio campaign to commence from April 25

BAHAWALPUR: A three-day national anti-polio campaign will start from April 25 in Bahawalpur District.

According to Executive District Officer Health Bahawalpur Dr Shahid Khaleeq, approximately 587,831 children of less than 5 years age would be administered anti-polio vaccines.

Total 1344 teams have been formed to perform duty. Out of these, 1062 mobile teams will visit door to door and 150 fixed teams and 114 other mobile teams would administer polio vaccine at hospitals, basic health units, rural health centers, general bus stand, railway station and toll plazas while 18 teams will perform duties at markets.

The campaign would be monitored by 257 area in-charges, 120 union council medical officers and six tehsil supervisors.

District Police would provide security to the teams while focal persons would be present at every police station.

It is pertinent to mention here that Bahawalpur is polio-free district since 2011.
